Korean Government Awards IPTV Licenses to KT, LG Dacom, Hanaro Telecom

The KCC (Korea Communications Commission) recently announced the awarding of IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) licenses to three telecom companies, KT, LG Dacom, and Hanaro Telecom, Chosun Ilbo of Korea reported, adding that they will launch the IPTV services in late October 2008.

Of a full score of 500 points, KT ranked the highest, followed by LG Dacom and Hanaro Telecom, and the other candidate Open IPTV did not pass the KCC review, according to a report by KBS News. Also, KCC added that starting from October other telecom operators will be able to apply for IPTV licenses.
